Better to be deprived of food for three days than tea for one," says a Chinese proverb. Research is showing it may just be true. A Harvard study examined 340 men and women who had suffered heart attacks and compared them to matched control subjects. They found that those who drank a cup or more of Black Tea daily had a 44 percent reduction in the risk of heart attack compared to non-tea drinkers. The study was conducted by Dr. Howard Sesso et al. at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston and published in the American Journal of Epidemiology.Cardiovascular research suggest that a diet rich in the antioxidants found in tea is able to prevent heart disease and stoke. Tea has been shown to stimulate the circulatory system, to strengthen the blood vessels and to decrease the cholesterol level in the blood stream - therefore, reducing the risk of heart disease. What more could you ask for in a beverage!
