Olympic Game Time ~ Tea Time at Steeped in Style Teas

As you know, the 2008 Summer Olympics are being held in Beijing, China. Many tea fans have taken notice of the Olympic Games because, not only is tea the drink of choice among the Chinese, but China is where many of our favorite teas are grown.

In celebration of the games, Coca-Cola, an Olympic game sponsor and the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee unveiled specially-produced cakes of Pu-Erh tea. Olympic sponsored Pu'Erh tea is limited in quantity as only 50,000 sets have been authorized for sale. These tea leaves were originally grown in the Yunnan Province along the Lancang River, and underwent specific, traditional methods of refinement before being packaged. Among all the teas that China does produce, Pu-Erh was chosen, with the hope that the Olympics can help promote this unique tea (either you love it or hate it!) and it's health benefits to the international community.

The spirit of Chinese tea conforms to the Olympic ideals of peace and respect. The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games provide a rare opportunity for the development of Chinese tea, and allow the world a better chance to understand a special part of Chinese culture.

So, although Pu-Erh may be a little too strong for many western tastebuds, pour yourself a cup of one of our gourmet teas, sit back and enjoy as you cheer for the USA to bring home the gold!

Go Team USA!! ~ Amy
